khādī is an Indian handspun and hand woven cloth made with cotton, silk or wool. Mahatma Gandhi began promoting the spinning of khādī for rural self-employment and self-reliance in 1920s India thus making khadi an integral part and icon of the Swadeshi movement. The freedom struggle revolved around the use of khādī fabrics and the dumping of foreign-made clothes.

In the present day, the term khadi has been used to describe handmade or natural products. With these beliefs in the the use of natural herbs and oils Khadi has developed it’s line of skin, hair and body care products.

Herbs are collected in a sustainable and traditional way by local inhabitants. Khadi supports the employment of rural workers and sustains a policy which prevents the harming of the natural habitats in which the herbs are harvested.
